Winter camp will start in February 2027. Sundays 2-3:30pm *No Camp Nov. 29

New Skater Camps are a session-based program designed to welcome newcomers (ages 7–18) to the joy of roller skating and prepare them for the sport of roller derby. Skaters work one-on-one or in small groups with our coaches to build skating fundamentals, including stopping, falling safely, roller-sport safety, goal-setting, and a basic understanding of roller derby gameplay.
Goons/New Skater Camps are zero contact, focusing entirely on skating skills, safety, confidence, and control on skates. Because athletes progress at different paces, skaters may attend as many Goons sessions as they or their families choose. Participants are assessed regularly for readiness to advance into our Punks roller derby program.
Whether a skater dreams of competitive derby or wants a fun, welcoming place to feel more confident on wheels, the Mob City Goons program is the perfect place to start. Goons practice on Sunday afternoons at the Northgate Community Center.
Our Goons/New Skater Camps are zero-contact, focusing on skill development and control—not on hitting or gameplay. Skaters may repeat camps as needed; progress is assessed regularly to determine readiness for our Punks derby program.

Goons/New Skater camps are zero contact and focus on skating skills, safety, and fun! Each camp is ten weeks long. Each week focuses on a different set of skating skills to get your skater ready for any kind of skating they want to pursue. Skills include but are not limited to: Starts, stops, balance, footwork, falls & recovery, transitions, and backwards skating. Each camp ends with an assessment to track progress. Camps can be repeated to increase skills, or skaters can advance into our roller derby program or onto their next skating adventure!
